{"id":253,"date":"2011-11-08T01:21:53","date_gmt":"2011-11-08T01:21:53","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/www.soulmatesecret.com\/wabisabilove\/?p=253"},"modified":"2014-06-22T19:18:30","modified_gmt":"2014-06-22T19:18:30","slug":"the-wabi-sabi-of-stress","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.arielleford.com\/wabisabilove\/2011\/11\/08\/the-wabi-sabi-of-stress\/","title":{"rendered":"The Wabi Sabi of Stress"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>For the past several months my life has gotten progressively more stressful as I geared up to launch the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.1shoppingcart.com\/app\/?af=1397723\" target=\"_blank\">Art of Love series<\/a>.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>There were so many things to do that I was constantly waking up in the middle of the night to write down <a href=\"\/wabisabilove\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/11\/IMG-20111107-00024.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright size-medium wp-image-254\" title=\"IMG-20111107-00024\" src=\"\/wabisabilove\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/11\/IMG-20111107-00024-300x225.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"225\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.arielleford.com\/wabisabilove\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/11\/IMG-20111107-00024-300x225.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.arielleford.com\/wabisabilove\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/11\/IMG-20111107-00024.jpg 800w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a>things I still needed to accomplish.<\/p>\n<p>Fortunately the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.1shoppingcart.com\/app\/?af=1397723\" target=\"_blank\">Art of Love<\/a> has come together brilliantly and there are more than 60,000 participants all over the world enjoying the expertise of Deepak Chopra, Harville Hendrix, Marianne Williamson, John Gray and more.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Here\u2019s a confession:<\/strong> the payoff of the stress is the adrenalin rush that often comes with it. There is an excitement factor that makes me feel very alive.<\/p>\n<p>It also provides <strong>an excuse for skipping workouts, not eating right and choosing to not take the time to stay centered and calm<\/strong>. I am aware that I am \u201cwigged out,\u201d and yet I pretend that \u201cit can\u2019t be helped.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>We went in Maui last week for the Awesomeness Fest \u2013 a gathering of global, conscious entrepreneurs and while I was thrilled to be invited as a speaker, I was also nervous about a new talk I had prepared. I arrived totally exhausted and on the verge of getting sick.<\/p>\n<p>Part of me was trying hard to <strong>\u201cpower through\u201d the tiredness<\/strong> but it wasn\u2019t working. So\u2026. I finally asked myself \u201cWhat would Wabi Sabi ask me to do?\u201d<\/p>\n<p>As I was lying under my umbrella on the beach, I realized the only answer to allow myself to be as profoundly tired as I was\u2026.to just surrender completely into the depth of fatigue and let it be a beautiful experience.<\/p>\n<p>As I sank further into my chair, I was able to just \u201cbe\u201d tired and I let my mind and body go. Soon I felt subtle peaceful waves flow through me and I took a much-needed nap.<\/p>\n<p><strong>About 3 hours later a funny thing happened\u2026I noticed that I felt great!<\/strong> My energy level was coming back and I no longer felt like I was on the verge of getting sick.<\/p>\n<p>That afternoon the AwesomenessFest creator, Vishen Lakhiani, spoke about \u201cliving in the flow\u201d and the steps to developing \u201cBlisscipline,\u201d which is my new favorite word.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Now that I can remember how great it feels to not be stressed out,<\/strong> I am making a new commitment to to do all the things I know are good for me.<\/p>\n<p>I look forward to taking time to workout daily, doing my daily HeartMath heart-lockins, taking breaks during the workday, scheduling more fun and pleasure, and making a conscious effort to remember that while I can\u2019t control what happens everyday, I can control how I react.<\/p>\n<p><strong>How are you handling stress?<\/strong>\u00a0 Is there a payoff you aren&#8217;t aware of?\u00a0 Check in and choose your reaction when your life overwhelms.\u00a0 Find the Wabi Sabi secret and slow down to savor the experience.<\/p><!-- AddThis Advanced Settings generic via filter on the_content --><!-- AddThis Share Buttons generic via filter on the_content -->","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>For the past several months my life has gotten progressively more stressful as I geared up to launch the Art of Love series.
